May 18, 2014- preserved by the cold

It has been so cool that there was a little frost in the neighborhood. I did not see this myself. I did see plants covered by nervous gardeners. It was mid May and I was in denial.

The cool weather has meant that flowers that started to bloom kept blooming. We got to enjoy this gem for almost an entire week.
This bright red Iceland poppy merits a post all to itself.

I haven't decided which picture will get into the contest this fall. I expect it will be one of these pictures.
