Special garden post- remembering early April

Between a very busy time at work and the end of the picture contest I have been remiss in bringing you garden news.
The garden has been coming in waves, as warm weather has brought us a quick spring this year. My goodness, the crab apple trees are going to bloom this weekend. Two years ago they were blooming on May 8.

In early April the first wave is the blue wave called squill. Its more upscale name is scilla. Whatever its name it creates the first blue carpet of the spring.

This carpet comes right at the time for hellebores. These wonderfully vigorous plants are still somewhat unusual. I got a bunch 3 years ago, to go with a few I have had for almost ten years. I have been adding 2-3 each year since. This year I picked up a really nice single white one.

This year we celebrated the early spring with a set of Easter eggs. Here are a few pictures for those of you who inquired. Unlike the pumpkins, they did not get hung in the trees (even though it is an interesting idea.)

More will come but this set of pictures really needed its own space.
